Young Living Company was started in 1989 in Spokane, Washington, by Gary Young. With his background and experience in Agriculture, on a small piece of land just about quarter acre, he grew Lavender and some other herbs.
He built a temporary distiller in house, by joining two pressure cookers with a brass pipe. Once the crop came out, he put it in the distiller and this produced the first batch of the Company’s therapeutic oil!! This is how, the Young Living Company started production in a small way.
They decided to purchase land in St Maries Idaho to grow Lavender and other aromatic plants and also built a low pressure low temperature distillation plant. Gradually they grew the production of Lavender and other plants and also installed many more distillation boilers. Some land was also purchased in France.
The Company started its Corporate office in Lehi, Utah in 2003. Now the Company also has offices in Australia, Japan and Europe.
Company’s oils have the required essential ingredients because of quality of plants it grows in house. Next is the distilling process, which is gentle, under controlled pressure and temperature, followed by thorough testing.
The Company’s products include-
Essential Oils: These can be taken internally, used aromatically or applied . The Brand supplies over 130 different essential oils and oil blends.
Essential Nutrition: This encompasses oils which blend well with foods and the body gets essential nutrients.
Essential living items: These are for oral hygiene, hair care, skin care and bath etc. Essential living items are very useful for health in general.
Those who want to make some income and also have good health, can join Young Living and market their products. They propagate relationship marketing ie by word of mouth. It is also possible to become a distributor of Brand products.
In conclusion, Young Living is a legitimate business that has been on the scene for sometime now. That being said, it is still a MLM or multi level marketing opportunity. With a MLM you are typically encouraged to start prospecting within your family and friends and often asked to attend hotel meetings. You may also be encouraged to have meetings in your home to promote the opportunity or the products. It is up to you to determine if you see yourself working within this type of system.”
