For all you hobby enthusiasts out there, here a few tips to get out of the little troubles in your work:
Keep your brushes soft and feeling new by washing them after every use. Just put them under warm running water and soap away with your hands. Make sure you take out everything on the bristles that would make them crusty and hard. If you have stiff brushes, you can try to putting them in a cup of fabric softener for a few hours and they’ll be back to their soft selves.
Do you paint a lot in your hobby? If so, you better place some newspaper on your work table to keep the paint from getting to places. It helps prevent the paint from staining your work table too. If you are working with really thick paints that bleed a lot, try doubling the layers to keep them from bleeding through. You can even try tripling it just to be sure.
You can take away glue stains from cloth, or from any other surface with just a bit of rubbing alcohol. The alcohol is a really good solvent for glue and easily removes it. If the glue hardened, rubbing alcohol can still remove it. So keep a bottle handy, just in case.
If you want your bottles to unscrew easily, you can try covering them up with some plastic wrap first before screwing the lid in. You’ll soon discover that this prevents your previously opened paint or glue bottles from crusting up and it will also make opening the bottles a lot less harder.
Have you ever had that feeling like you’re running out of places to hold while painting really small objects? Don’t worry, all you have to do is to cut up a piece of masking tape and loop it. Put the sticky loop on the eraser end of a pencil and use that to hold the item you are painting. Afterwards, you can dry it by leaving the pencil in a cup or pencil holder for a while.
