If you’re a hobbyist like me, then you’ll surely appreciate some of these hints that I have for you:
Ever get tired of your brushes always getting hard and stiff after you use them for paint or glue? Acrylic paint is the worst for this kind of thing because it crusts so easily. What you can do is wash your brushes after every use with a little bit of soap and warm water. In case they’ve already hardened, don’t fret. You can leave them on a cup of fabric softener and they’ll be as soft as new.
If your projects involve a lot of painting, then try to cover your working area with newspaper to keep the paint from getting where it’s not supposed to go. If you’re working with glue or thick paints, you might want to double or even triple the newspaper layers to make sure that they don’t bleed through to your surface.
You can take away glue stains from cloth, or from any other surface with just a bit of rubbing alcohol. The alcohol is a really good solvent for glue and easily removes it. If the glue hardened, rubbing alcohol can still remove it. So keep a bottle handy, just in case.
Try placing a little piece of plastic wrap on your paint bottles before you screw them on. You’ll find that the next time you open them for use, the paints won’t crust out, you’ll find it a lot easier to unscrew, and your materials would be considerable more fresh than ever.
Are you trying to paint small items and finding it harder and harder to hold them as you go along? Try looping a small piece of masking or clear tape and placing it on a pencil’s eraser’s end. Use this to hold the little item you are trying to paint and paint away. If you want to dry it, just leave the pencil in a cup or any pencil holder.
