There are literally hundreds of proven ways to make money online. Each has its unique advantages and disadvantages and I have come to realize that their is something on the internet for just about everyone. I personally prefer to get out there and interact and build friendships with others.

In my own analogy, there are two basic lanes to make money on the information highway an they are categorized by level of interaction with people. On the one hand, you have less interactive, more transactional opportunities and on the others side you have highly interactive opportunities.

Let’s take a look a the pros ad cons of a couple of popular online business models. We’ll look at affiliate marketing (less interactive) versus a direct sales or MLM (Multi-Level Marketing) model (more interactive) and let you decide. That said, both models can be extremely profitable.

Let’s start out with affiliate marketing opportunities. A great advantage that I see with this model is the potential time freedom to run your business on auto-plilot. Besides a few occasional questions or emails you may get regarding a product or service you are promoting you re free from training and team building activities..

The downside to this could be if you are working from home alone you may become rather lonely and withdrawn. You could also lose focus or motivation if you aren’t someone that works well alone. Interacting in forums and social networking can reduce some of the isolation associated with this model.

When it comes to direct sales or MLM (Multi-Level Marketing)you are typically encouraged to build a team and assist others in their business development. The friendships born n these opportunities are priceless and can last for years. With the right synergy and compensation plan, this model can be very profitable rather quickly.

The downside to MLM and multi-tiered direct sales is attrition. Typically within sixty to ninety days you will have to find new team members which may prove less efficient if not properly handled. Typically, strong upfront screening and solid training can reduce this problem significantly.

There is no single solution or perfect business but there are certain attributes to online businesses that may be more in line with your interests and goals. That said, the underlying quality to all successful internet businesses is your ability to market successfully. Make sure you understand marketing and targeted traffic generation strategies and you can be successful with any business model.
