Going into a strict living or raw food diet can be quite a struggle for a lot of us mainly because of the tension and stressful conditions that we have to go through on a daily basis. Not to mention we are always surrounded with a wealth of unhealthy foods. We are easily drawn to take the path of least resistance, by giving up raw food in favor of processed and junk food items.
One of the challenges that we have to face when starting with uncooked or living food is heightened cravings for junk food. This is due to the gradual removal of toxins from our body as a direct result of the cleansing action of fresh and living food. Other than yearning for the forbidden foods, one may experience headaches or backaches from the changes your body is experiencing. The worst that can happen is the possible backsliding of a person who has already been into uncooked and living eating habit for quite sometime already.
Here are some practical tips that you can follow so that you don’t become prone to backsliding.
1. Stay away from temptations Whenever possible, stay away from temptations and minimize those situations that may lead you to your temptations. For example, when you are at the grocery store going to but some vegetable, take the extra few steps to avoid the candy and cookie isle on the way.
2. Always dwell on the consequences of your actions If a craving creeps up on you and wont go away, just think of how terrible you will feel if you give in. Remember all the bad things junk does to your body and mind.
3. If your having a craving, eat something healthy and fresh instead If you are having serious cravings for bad food then it may be helpful to eat natural snack foods instead. However, if you do this to avoid junk food, make sure not to pig out on the healthy food.
