To get a job as a video game tester is an ambition that thousands of young men and women from around the world dream of doing. Who would not want to be paid to do a job that they actually do in their own free time anyway?

What other jobs out there can offer the benefits that come with playing (I mean testing!) brand new, cutting edge, pre-release video games? A professional baseball player or football star would be a great job, but obviously these careers are beyond you and me.

The video games industry is a multi-billion dollar business and one of the largest industries on the planet. Thats why the US the UK, Japan, China and many other countries employ thousands of video game testers.

With so many video games being made to cope with the ever increasing demand and so many companies producing them, there are a lot of video game testing jobs available that need ambitious, motivated people to fill.

Obviously these posts are in great demand, particularly among young adultsmen and women, and game companies can be particularly choosey in selecting potential employees.

You will often come across video game testing positions that require certain qualifications. The reason they do this is often to reduce the amount of applications they receive so that they can accelerate the recruiting process.

This will naturally stop the vast majority of applicants from applying and they will look for other positions that dont require professional qualifications. This is a massive MISTAKE and one that could cost you your dream job.

You Can Become A Video Game Tester And Not Have Any Qualifications

If a video games company advertises a game tester job that you feel is right for you, then you should still apply for it, regardless of the qualifications criteria.

If you have done your research and have a great resume already prepared, then I suggest you go ahead with the application. That way your profile will get in front of someone in the company and be looked at. And that is the hardest part of the process complete.

If you have a ’stand out’ and professional looking resume there is every chance you will get asked for an interview.

There are no easy rides in this industry and if you want to be noticed you need to take positive action to promote yourself to a future employer. By showing such initiative you could well impress your potential employer enough to give you the job.

Remember, this is a dream job you are searching for, that could easily lead to bigger and better things within the gaming industry. If you have the right attitude and are prepared to put in the work, there is no reason at all why you cant become a video game tester.

Believe me, it’s definitely worth the effort when you see the faces of your friends and tell them you are a professional video game tester!
