Even in the early days of the Internet in the mid to late 1990s, before the real dawn of the Home Based Business, if you wanted to own a business it had to be a bricks-and-mortar business. Remember the Dot Com explosion, which eventually led to wildly speculative investments and the eventual bursting of the Dot Com bubble?
Well, even those Dot Coms had “real” offices in a physical location somewhere. They had to pay overheads for those places like rent, utilities, and salaries to employees. And to this very day, even though they may very much be an Internet Based Business, the Dot Com giants like Yahoo, Google, and Amazon still do the very same thing.
Although people certainly were beginning to own their own Home based Businesses in the early 1990’s, before the dawn of Windows 95, and the massive popularity of the Internet, they unarguably did assist in ushering in a new business model trend – that of the Internet Home based Business. Yet these home-based businesses still involved doing things that you would do if you had an office, except in reality you may only have a room or use the basement in your home. They were still doing physical things like assembling and selling computers.. This resulted in people simply helping some Company save money on overheads such as production costs and staff salaries.
Was this Home based Business model really all that different from the semi home-based businesses that had existed for many years already, you may ask? Whilst it could be argued that it was certainly better than the rat race, it could still be and was rather risky and costly.
A “Bricks and Mortar” Home Business is fine, but it is clear that there are many advantages that the Internet Home Based Business has over these traditional Home Business models.
* One way of doing this is by Affiliate marketing, and if operated correctly, marketing costs can be kept to a minimum. No inventory is needed, and computer parts etc can simply be delivered directly to the customer, rather than your own home.
* An actual physical store is unnecessary, and commissions can be made from anywhere in the world whilst you are asleep or on vacation. Your Internet Home based Business can literally earn you money twenty-four-seven.
* Much of the communication needed for the Internet Home based business can be done with the use of email, IM, and auto-responders. Although usually a telephone IS a necessity, with a few business models even this is not an essential.
Okay, so what exactly is required to ensure an Internet Home Based business is a success?
* A dynamic and attractive website.
* Simple, secure payment methods–these will essentially be credit/debit cards or PayPal.
* Support & Training is paramount to get your business off the ground and make and keep it successful.
* You need ongoing Support & Training to get your Home based Business off the ground
Possibly the best thing about the Internet Home Based Business in this day and age however, is that you are able to take tried and tested ideas and make them work. It is not necessary to take massive risks such as those taken by the Dot Coms, and which sank so many. Anyone who truly has the WILL to succeed CAN be successful in working from home, if they are simply willing to put in the effort. So – What are YOU waiting for?
