In our environmentally conscious world more and more people are purchasing green products. These products are usually made out of recycled materials and help promote environmental awareness. Such products are in high demand. There are more and more devices being made out of reusable materials. The same applies to electronics, specifically cell phones. Green cell phones are the latest craze. The Samsung Reclaim SPH-M560 is the latest green cell phone available from Sprint. Not only does this phone boast being green it is also quite affordable and full of features that average person can utilize. This would make a great phone for anyone looking to upgrade so a nice and simple cell phone.
Firstly and most importantly the phone casing is made out recycled plastic. This is unnoticeable as the phone feels quite sturdy and durable. The box the cell phone comes in is made out of recycled paper, going one step beyond the user manual was printed with an environmentally friendly soy based ink. The phone is rectangular in design and fits neatly into ones hand and pocket. Despite being a small phone none of the buttons or controls are crammed too tightly on the phones face. Most notably the full QWERTY keyboard. Even though the keys are not raised they are big enough to accommodate most people. Typing is very easy on this phone.
As with most multimedia phones the Samsung Reclaim offers many applications. One can access social networking sites like MySpace and Facebook. A user can also access media streaming sites like YouTube and watch videos or listen to music off the web. Going along with the eco friendly theme the phone also has a Green Glossary and Green Guide app which helps people determine what items are healthy and eco friendly. There is also email syncing which allows you to view your email on Yahoo, Hotmail, and Gmail. Being a Sprint and EV-DO phone the Reclaim gives its users access to Sprint Radio, Sprint TV, and Sprint Movie.
The Sprint Reclaim also features a camera. The 2 megapixel lens takes photographs in 3 quality settings and 5 resolutions. The camera also has a self timer, a digital zoom, adjustable brightness and darkness levels, 5 color tones, night mode, 5 white balance presets, and 4 shutter sounds. The camera can also record video. One can directly upload videos to websites like MySpace, Facebook, and YouTube. Or they can share videos and pictures through Bluetooth or multimedia messaging.
The call quality was good. Callers sounded fine but at higher volume levels they did sound a bit distorted. Similarly the speakerphone experiences the same problem. There was no static or interference of any kind during phone calls. Also if the user isn’t speaking directly into the phone the person on the other end will have trouble understanding what the user is saying.
The Samsung Reclaim is a very nice phone. It features many applications and tools that are very popular among people today. Not only that, it is an environmentally friendly phone since it is made out of recycled materials. Anyone trying to promote a green world in this day and age can do no worse than this phone.
