Recently, an acquaintance of mine was telling me how badly she needed to make some extra money, and so she had begun doing searches on the internet for a way of doing this. She had become frustrated with finding a way on how to make money at home, because she was unable to tell the difference between real legitimate offers and those that were not.
In the following, I will provide you with tips on how to tell the difference between legitimate businesses to make money at home and those that may not be legitimate.
1. A red flag should go up if you are being pushed into deciding something rather suddenly. Be sure to listen to your gut.
2. Be cautious if you are asked to put a large sum of money upfront, and you are promised that you will get your money plus more back. These are almost always illegal.
3. Legal and reputable companies can be found listed with the Better Business Bureau.
4. Some companies will boast about being brand new opportunities. To be fair, every new company has to start somewhere and some will be around in twenty years, but others will not be. It seems that new companies are popping up all the time, but on of the best ways to evaluate them is by their track records. In addition, track records take some time to develop.
5. Be cautious of some online paid surveys. Do not pay a fee to a website to provide you with surveys. Usually, all they will give you is a list of survey sites that you need to sign up with. You will probably find that many surveys reward you with points or free draws instead of immediate money.
6. Be cautious of businesses that expect you to purchase a large amount of inventory, that you then are expected to turn around and sell to others.
7. So often, I have seen websites that are urging you to sign up immediately, because if you “get in first,” and do no work, you are guaranteed to make money. Why would you trust a promise that you will make money for doing nothing but signing up? Realize that legitimate ways of making money require that you do work, and will provide you with a more secure, long-term form of income.
8. When evaluating an opportunity, do not rely on the advice of well-meaning family and friends or even the internet to make your decision. Because of so many scams that go on, people you know are likely to misguide you in an effort to protect you. The internet can do the same thing. I have seen many really good and legitimate home business methods be trashed on the internet by angry people. Be sure you search for the positive information, speak to others who are successful in their chosen business, and call up the company for more information.
9. When answering business advertisements, ensure that you can find out the business name. This may seem like a no-brainer, but some companies with bad reputations may not be so forthcoming.
10. Be careful of offers that have time limits on them. This is a pressure tactic used to get you to decide now.
Hopefully, I have give you some ideas on discerning amongst the different methods you are bound to come across in your search to find out how to make money at home.
