Because internet marketing is mostly automated, more and more people are becoming interested in starting their own marketing campaign. You put up a website that people can visit to buy things, attract people to that website through links and other marketing methods and then sit back and wait for them to buy what you are selling or hire you for your services. This view would make it seem like there is not much recurring effort that needs to be put in. This is probably the mentality that causes many newer internet marketers to shirk their customer service responsibilities. In reality, you will find that your customers demand good customer service whether you run a traditional brick-and-mortar business or an online one. Here are some ways that you, as an internet marketer, can offer good customer service to you buyers and clients.
When someone contacts you, make sure you answer as soon as possible. It’s best if you respond to them the same day, or the next day at the latest. Responses should be personal messages written by you. Don’t merely send out messages created on an autoresponder. A quick and personal response to comments, questions or even complaints shows that you really care what your customers. If you had a retail store, would you leave customers standing there while you did something else? It’s not likely!
Another good strategy that will keep your customers happy is sending them an email offering them future discounts for return business. If you set up an automatic responder, you won’t even have to deal with this personally and you can ensure return customers. This is a great way to encourage thousands of dollars in repeat sales and it is easy! No one will turn away from a great deal! You can go about this a couple of ways either by creating a set of coupon codes that you give to previous buyers or by offering a product or service created just for them if they respond directly to you.
Offer your buyers a way to get in touch with you so that they can ask questions or leave feedback about the products they have just purchased. In fact, if you are difficult to contact, you may never make many sales in the first place. People are not going to trust you if they have no way to contact you. You have to be available to your customers and potential customers. You have to give people a form or e-mail address where they can contact you if they want. Some internet marketers feel that this means more work for them, but think instead of the additional sales it could mean for you. Just knowing they can contact you is often enough to convert visitors into paying customers.
There is no reason to believe that quality customer service is difficult. Indeed, if you are doing it correctly it should not even take up very much of your time at all. You can probably offer great customer service by spending five to ten minutes each day to make sure each of your clients get what they deserve. Think of it this way, that extra time you spend on customer service could really rake in the sales for you. Since it is really very easy to offer high quality customer service, why is it that you have not yet improved your efforts in this field? You will only benefit from it!
