I have been a stay at home mom for ten years. Within this time, I have always wondered how to start my own home business. I have searched hundreds of sites trying to find legitimate home based business opportunities. I know how dreadful it can be to search for hours only to find out about a bunch of new scams. During this time I have found several business ideas I would like to share with everyone. Hopefully this will help you get started in your own home business. Remember we all have to begin somewhere. Photography- Do you have talent or a passion for taking photos? Do you have a dream to become a photographer? Do you spend half of your day on Flickr? Are you artistic? If you answer yes to any of these, you should consider becoming a photographer. I have researched the need for photographers and found there is an overwhelming demand. On the net you will find massive amounts of website that help freelance photographers. A lot of these websites will offer a membership at no fee and will allow you to post your pictures. Companies or individuals then go to the site browsing pictures and once they find what they want they will contact you and pay a small fee to you for the right to use you photo(s). Other ways to get into the photography industry include offering your services to events, weddings, birthdays, family reunions, etc.
Realtor – If you find yourself looking though the real estate section in your local paper for the fun of it, this could be your dream job. Becoming a realtor will require you to get a license, but this should not take more than 6 months. Once you have obtained your license, you can start your new company. This will require some networking, however if you are a social person you will most likely find this to be fun. The best part, you can do this from your home or you can get an office. The choice is completely up to you. You set your hours, work as little or as much as you like. Your income is directly tied to your motivation.
Interior Design- Do you have flare for fashion? Are you intrigued by design? If so, then you may want to look into becoming an interior designer! Remember owning your own business takes time on your part. You may want to look into a few classes for design. However, the key to success is your network. Just be patient and remember nothing happens over night. You may want to start with helping friends or family with their design needs and start your portfolio with them.
Tutoring- To be valuable in todays society you must constantly expand your knowledge. Everyone has areas in which they need assistance growing their knowledge of particular subjects. This is true for everyone from students to Fortune 500 executives. Sharing your knowledge as a Tudor meets this need. The information you have learned in the past might seem useless to you. However, it could be very valuable to someone else. Evaluate what you know and know well, Im sure you will find a particular niche that is unique to you. As a Tudor you can teach others this special knowledge and earn income while you do it.
Wedding or event planner – Do you have an eye for fashion? Do you have fun organizing parties? Do you have a great eye for detail? Well, wedding and event planning might be the career for you! A copy of the latest wedding fashion magazine and the phone numbers to a few suppliers and you could be well on your way. You could start by advertising in local papers to do small parties and take it from there.
Translation- You may think this career is only for the bilingual, but this is not so. A translator offers a variety of specialized translations; General, Administrative, Commercial, Financial, Legal, and Medical translations just to name a few. This has become a fast growing industry with a huge demand.
Catering or Personal chef ” Everyone has to eat. This is an undeniable fact. Put your time behind the stove to good use. You probably already have the equipment needed in your kitchen. The only thing left is to reach out to the community and offer your skills. Corporations, event planners, individuals, and even your friends are all potential clients. To build a name even faster, scan the internet for local cook offs that you can join.
