There is no more individual room in a home than a person’s bedroom. Whether you be a young person who needs room to study, a teenager watching television and playing Sony games, or a Mom and Dad trying to get some respite from a busy life. Specialty lighting is a must for a bedroom because your needs will vary so much.
Let’s start with your average teenager’s room. These days kids put in a lot of work time on computers. Anyone who has ever spent a lot of time on a computer will tell you that you need a variety of light and adjustable lighting is very beneficial, especially when eyes start to get tired. LED lighting is fantastic for these purposes as it’s directional. There’s also night lights to consider, especially for young children who might not be ready for full darkness when they sleep.
For your own bedroom you might want some serious atmosphere. Colored lights are perfect for creating the sort of atmosphere you see in magazines and photo shoots. Soft yellows and oranges give that warm spring feeling so you can relax and read a book.
Again you can make use of a dimmer to adjust the light, so that you can watch TV, or just relax. If you have computers in the bedroom you will need some good accessory lights. Remember to have side lamps so that you do not wake up your partner if you need to read or get up at night. Dressing tables can be fitted with task lights so that you can see to make up and brush your hair etc. It is also easier to find things in your dresser with proper light.
Floor lamps are a great addition and are very useful for bringing light to dark areas of the house that seem forbidding to visitors and children. You can even use them to produce diffused light by pointing them towards the ceiling and rebounding the light.
An Asian accent is a great idea with lighting fixtures. Asian designs include things like paper lamp shades and bamboo or wood framed fixtures.
You can any theme you like to decorate and illuminate your bedroom. It is your room, after all.
The design of the bedroom is very important and can be brought into its own with great lighting. Spending some extra time to plan before you start to add fixtures will really pay dividends, whether you try taking photos of your own room or seek out ideas in magazines you’ll reap rewards from the process.
