Getting started with your own website isn’t a step to be taken lightly. But it isn’t so important a decision that you can’t take it back or switch to a new company at any point in time. There are a few things about any web hosting company that you can use to compare one against another.
Web hosting companies usually give you more than enough space to do what you need to. Unless you are trying to duplicate Youtube, you won’t have any problems with the amount of space required. Several web hosting companies now even offer “unlimited” space on the server. Although this is theoretically impossible, web hosting companies are all looking to beat their competition and this is one of the ways that they do this.
Bandwidth is another component of web hosting that will only be a problem if you get a huge influx of traffic all at once. You’ll probably run out of server processes before you run out of bandwidth. For instance, if one of your “diggs” goes to the front page of digg.com, there is definitely a likelihood that your $10 per month or less web host won’t have the server processes allocated to handle that much traffic which means your site may crash. Don’t fret because this is a great problem to have.
One of the factors that can differentiate one affordable web hosting company from another is their technical support. Often on forums I read comments regarding the technical support of a web hosting company and how terrible it is. I don’t often read about how good it is, but do hear about the negative. Don’t believe everything and see what other people come to the defense of that company. I rely on good quality technical support and prefer that it be in my native language by native speakers. That’s just me, but with as many companies as there are out there to choose from, this is one of the luxuries that make my selection process worth it.
Having a good control panel that is easy to navigate through and provides easy management options is vital. It’s one thing if you know your way around at the command line of a terminal connecting you to your server, but even then the likelihood of messing something up increases. A good control panel has all of the common options easily accessible and the less common options available as well.
Affordable web hosting companies should also provide you with a free domain name which will most likely use as the main account name. If you’re like me and plan on hosting multiple domain names and projects on the same server, you should still take advantage of a free domain name because hey, free domain name.
Creating a fully functional website these days is pretty easy. One of the easiest ways to do this is through Wordpress which is included in just about all of the cPanel software installation options. There are a lot of other options including ecommerce, content management systems, bulletin board systems, and a few other types of websites. All of these are pretty easy to install.
Don’t think too much about web hosting. It is important, but the more you spend time analyzing the many facets of web hosting, the further away you’ll get from your project. Plan on spending about $5 to $10 per month and making sure you have all of your minimum requirements met along with a free domain. Read reviews as well, but be aware that the author may be basing his claim solely on which web hosting company is paying him the most money for promotion. Good luck with your search.
This is an example of some of the article marketing. I mostly use this for search engine optimization to get some of my videos and other authority domains ranked in the engines. These are a couple of the more competitive terms I’m going for now, affordable web hosting and bluehost coupon.
