There are a vast number of blogs out there in cyber space. It cannot only be difficult to keep track of all your friends’ blogs, but remembering to get your own visited often as well. By having traffic driven to your blog you will become a more prominent, and therefore remembered piece of the “blogosphere” as it has so been dubbed.
1) Write Well and Frequently
Building your blog’s reputation and audience is an important aspect of this endeavor. Simply writing without purpose is going to be a positive experience for you. When sharing information or content on your blog you want to keep it useful. This is one step to keeping your readers coming back for more. Besides good content, another very important point to follow when building your blog is properly written information. Bad sentence structure or frequent spelling mistakes may pass on occasion however may become tedious for your readers. No matter how useful your information is, they may opt out and look elsewhere to suit their needs.
Frequent updates with that all-important useful content will also increase the number of opportunities you have for this content to be notice by various search engines such as Yahoo! or Google.
2) Submissions to Search Engines
Most search engines have an area which will say something along the lines of “Submit Link” (or something similar, depending on the search engine). By submitting your URL to these search engines, your blog’s existence will be made known to them. As a result, those same search engines will grab on while crawling the internet looking for content, bringing your information along to other people’s searches.
However, please understand this doesn’t mean your blog pages will find themselves at the top of search lists on your screen. It’s great just knowing you have a chance of your blog being picked up and passed to others with search engine results
3) Blogrolls as Tools
One great idea is adding links to some of the various sites you like or enjoy visiting to your own blogroll. When the owner of these blogs notices, they are not only sure to pay your blog site a visit themselves, but they could possibly add you to their blogroll in return. This is an easy way to get news passed around about your blog to many people. The goal of this process is someone following your link from someone else’s blogroll. Once they have found you, they may find they enjoy what you have to offer, which then turns them into a loyal reader.
4) RSS Feeds for Your Blog
The addition of an RSS feed to your blog will allow for your blog readers to receive notification when new content has been added, but also read your blog via the feed. This opportunity could have them referring someone they feel could potentially benefit from your topic of the day. Adding the button itself is as easy as a couple of clicks of your mouse, but the added potential is indescribable.
5) Don’t Sit and Wait – Be Active
If you are overly shy or tend to lurk behind the scenes, blogs probably aren’t the best place to be hanging out for you. Blogging success relies a great deal on how ready and able you are to communicate on various comments left not only on your blog, but on those of others. Networking is the best way for you to become noticed as a prominent online figure. Say hi, ask questions or give your opinion on a current conversation while introducing yourself. The traffic you want and need is not going make itself to your blog by itself. Let everyone know you are there by speaking up and getting yourself noticed.
If you’re feeling a little confused or dubious about what exactly all this information can mean for you, take a breath. Not only is blogging easy, it’s a great way to bring traffic to you without a run to the copy shop for new banners for distribution, or a slew of phone calls to make. Type a bit here, click to publish and spend some quality time checking out the blogs of others and not only will you see how easy and fun it can be, but you might just find that little gem of information you’ve been looking for!
