While doing your daily thing on the Internet, you may have come across some ads that said that you can make money online by filling out surveys. It may have even got your curiosity aroused. After all, who wouldn’t want to make some extra money working part-time from home, right?
Maybe there was something inside of you that figured it can’t be that easy. You don’t want to be a sucker and fall for a paid survey scam. That’s good that you’re looking for more information about whether or not surveys are legitimate or not.
We live in a capitalist consumer driven society. Companies desperately want and even need feedback from their current or potential customers. The feedback they get from surveys can literally mean them gaining or losing millions or even billions of dollars a year.
Companies take the feedback that they get about their products very seriously. This is why they are willing to pay people money for their honest opinions. These surveys are not a scam, but they are very legitimate and can help a company make millions.
Although, you do still have to be careful because there are still some paid survey scams out there. The companies that need these surveys done, oftentimes outsource the work to third party companies. Unfortunately, sometimes these companies aren’t scrupulous.
You know you are probably dealing with a paid survey scam if the company that is conducting the survey wants you to pay for the survey form. These surveys should be provided free of charge. They may say you need to pay $5 for the form but when it’s completed you will get $10. In all likelihood the companies are paying $10 per survey but the survey company is skimming $5 of each survey to keep.
I should point out though, that some surveys will require you to review an actual product. In this case it is not uncommon for a company to charge a small fee up front for shipping the product to you first. This is not a paid survey scam.
Once you have paid for the shipping, you get the product, which you will get to keep, and you simply fill out the survey and return it. These types of surveys generally pay pretty well. You’ll recoup the shipping cost easily. While you might like the idea of getting paid cash for your surveys more, the free stuff that you get from taking these surveys can make great gifts or you could always sell them for cash. It’s an extra step, but one worth taking.
Some survey companies will give you points instead of money. They may even offer you coupons for stuff like food and movie tickets. If they offer points you can generally exchange them for merchandise. These are not paid survey scams either. While you may prefer cash surveys, the merchandise that you get from these ones can make great gifts or you could always sell them for cash.
You may have also come across websites that ask you for money in order to gain access to their database of surveys that is updated regularly. These are not paid survey scams either. These websites built up a relationship with the companies that handle surveys. When they have a new survey that they need filled out they tell the company that runs the survey database. By joining one of these types of sites, you’ll be able to find a lot of surveys in one convenient location.
