Ok so you have decided to run a home based internet business. Great you will absolutely love it once you come up for air. By this I mean everyone, yes, everyone who starts out gets completely wrapped up in information overload.
The harsh truth is most of this information you do not and will not need but unless you formulate a plan and are very ruthless in what you do actually research and read I can bet you will spend all day just reading e-mails and forums. This will not pay the bills.
To succeed you must set goals and priorities and not deviate by spending half your day browsing forums. I will warn you they are highly addictive but will not build your business or earn you money. Set your goals and priorities for the day and stick to them. Set aside only a certain amount of time for reading e-mails and researching. Another tip is only research what you need to know at that particular time for a certain step in your business. This does take willpower but does keep you focused.
The way I overcame my research addiction was to develop systems. Once I had developed these I followed them and only then researched any problems/new ideas I might come across. Each system consisted of a check sheet for any particular project I may be working on. I followed this check sheet and did not deviate and before I knew where I was I had actually started and finished projects.
It is very common for a majority of people to keep on researching and not really make a start on an actual business. Internet marketing or selling products online has got to be one of the worst businesses for information overload. This in turn means that unlike other businesses you will just sit there and do nothing but read. Many people say this is because they are afraid to fail. Well its true there are going to be some projects that don’t work. All internet marketers have had them but they did start. You will learn from those mistakes and your business will grow.
