Financially speaking, the college years are an awkward period of one’s life. While you are striving for a better future, you are paying massive amount of money for tuition and books. You are spending money so you can make more money later in life.
But what about right now? How are you even going to finish college if you don’t have a way to pay for it?
To solve this problem, many college students hold part-time jobs to scramble up their tuitions. But in the process of doing so, they sacrifice their valuable study time for relatively little pay. Their grades may suffer as a result, which could very well affect their future, both financially and professionally. This defeats the purpose of getting college education.
Luckily, internet is on the students’ side. Although making money online requires hard work and commitment in the beginning, the online income you generate has the ability to sustain you throughout the years as a college student.
So how is this different from working part time? Generating income online may be tough at first, but once you have done the work and achieve moderate success, it is going to build up very quickly and with very little maintenance. This snowball nature of web businesses will allow you to have free time later on to hit the library or to go out with friends.
Take blogging for example. If you start a blog and place an ad on it, you are mostly likely to get paid only when someone clicks on it (it’s called pay per click, or PPC). During the first few weeks, you probably won’t see any significant income because there are not enough readers visiting your blog. But as you write religiously, people start to pay attention to you, and your blog will convert those visits into income.
Now, a few months after your startup, your blog is finally making money. What do you think would happen to its profits if you stopped writing to prepare for exams? I would say barely a dent. Because you have already established your business, you will still be getting a stream of viewers everyday whether you are actively writing or not. This is what I mean when I said you can work less and still get paid.
Another great thing about making money online as a college student is that you will be making money no matter where you are or what you are doing. Your online business will continue to operate whether you are studying or partying. If you transfer schools or move, your business follows you. Just imagine how satisfying it would feel to have to worry about finances like the rest of the college students.
