In the United Kingdom, housing prices dropped by fifteen percent over the last twelve months. If a house is sold today it is likely that the house is sold at a loss. For a long time, the real estate market operated with the buyers understanding that they would be able to sell their homes for a profit later on. The only way for this rule to still apply to the selling price of a person’s home is if the homeowner drastically improves the value of the house that he or she is trying to sell. Upgrading the plumbing and heating systems in a house is one of the best ways to raise the value of a house.

Home owners are applying more value to environmentally friendly house upgrades. Updating a house’s heating and plumbing systems can be done by installing solar panels as well as a water heater that is energy efficient. The installation of solar panels can cut down a house’s CO2 output by roughly half a tonne every year.

These panels increase the value of a house and simultaneously reduce the environmental impact of the house. An energy efficient water heater will impress all home buyers. The energy efficient water heater ensures that one’s bath and shower always have hot water.

Underfloor heating is another popular upgrade installed by house owners in the UK. Underfloor heating transfers heat up through the floor by both wet and dry pipe systems. The rooms of a house are better able to stay at a stable temperature and the house owner won’t have to rely on a radiator or a wall unit to heat an entire room or house.

These systems have an easier time of heating and cooling than other systems and cost less to operate. Recently underfloor heating’s market share has grown and this has gone a long way to increasing the value of houses that have it installed.

There are plenty of other ways in which homeowners in the United Kingdom can increase the prices of the houses they are trying to sell. UK homeowners can also increase the value of their houses by installing other upgrades in their kitchens and bathrooms. Installing modern fixtures and putting in new, environmentally friendly flooring are two ways to increase a house’s value. Other methods include putting in new cabinets and counters and new light fixtures.

The unpredictability of the housing market has caused the value of a house to be based more on the decisions made by the house’s owner. Heating and cooling system upgrades as well as installing efficient and modern plumbing systems are just two methods one can use to increase the value of a house. Underfloor heating and other green technologies are two very reliable ways to make a house more valuable, and raise the asking price when selling homes on the real estate market.
