I was looking to make some money, but when an acquaintance pointed me toward online pay-to-click programs, it wasn’t enough to keep me interested. My time online paid off though when I discovered many companies were using the Web to hand out surveys and giving people money to take them.

A lot of people need to pad out their bank account without leaving their home. You can do online surveys while sitting on your sofa, when the time is convenient for you. You don’t need any specific skills, so whether you’re a senior citizen, a soccer mom or a sophmore sociology major, there’s an opportunity to make money.

Many companies need information through surveys. You can find ones that will pay you by going straight to the source, or by registering with a company that lists many and helps you find one that’s right for you. Some charge a small fee to participate, and I’ve discovered these are often the best jobs. But if you want to get started for free, you’ll find plenty of those opportunities as well.

You’ll need to answer some basic questions about yourself. Where do you live? How do you spend your money? What places do you enjoy visiting? Your profile tells a company what kind of survey they can give you. Doing the surveys is no trouble at all, especially when the rewards are so great.

You have a lot of leeway to decide how often you want to do a survey and what kinds of surveys you’d rather fill out. It’s also you how you want to be paid, and the companies’ sites give you plenty of information on how to make this decision.

The companies have a lot of business to do. They want someone they can rely on, so filling out the surveys in a timely fashion likely means you’ll be asked to do another one. Usually, requests for participation are sent through the mail, but you’ll have to go online to see when a company has a survey opportunity for you. And you can do the surveys right on the Web.

There’s an opportunity to make quite a bit of money depending on how often you do surveys. You can find out upfront how much you’re going to be paid and how long it might take, so you can decide if it’s worth your time. There’s nothing from preventing you from declining a certain survey.

Various companies might want to ask you about everything from your television viewing habits to how much time you spend traveling. No matter what they ask, you get paid. You’ll earn dollars or points that can be redeemed when you reach a certain limit. And if you want to get a friend or family member involved, companies will pay you extra to help them find other people to survey. It’s just another way to increase your earning potential.
