Renting A Projector Is Easier Than Buying

by Amy Nutt

Economically, a person should really be concerned about how they spend their money. With the climate that our countries are in world-wide, there is simply no need to just throw money away. Considering everything else that needs to be paid, such as bills and the ever-rising gas prices, there is no need for a person to be financially irresponsible.

The penalty for things this sort of irresponsibility is the loss of these things, and no one likes to lose their comfort that they have built for themselves. So, wherever able, a person should really consider spending any amount of money. So, if you’re in the need for a projector for whatever reason that you may have, consider renting it instead of buying it.

Why Renting is a Better Choice

Renting a projector is something that more and more people are considering to be the better option, as people generally do not need to have a projector in every facet of life, not even in most cases. By buying one, you are spending multiple hundreds (or even thousands) of dollars for something that will not have every day use. By renting a projector, you are saving yourself hundreds of dollars, which can go to more worthwhile things.

Choosing to rent a projector is clearly the more responsible choice for this reason, as well as another. Consider the projector that you can rent as opposed to the one you can buy. When you’re buying a projector, you’re thinking about how much it may cost for you to buy it. If you’re in the same position as many people, you’re not going to buy one of the better ones because of how much they can cost. When you rent them, you have a better chance of getting one of the top of the line projectors, as you’re only renting it, and not spending the hundreds that it may cost.

Decisions, Decisions

When considering to whether buy a projector or to rent it, it essentially comes down to a thing of cost. Clearly, renting the projector will be cheaper, but also consider the sad reality that you may break this projector or it doesn’t work properly. For the person who bought the projector, there is the issue of a huge loss of money here. The place where you got it may not want to take it back if it doesn’t work properly.

If you rented it and found that it doesn’t work, they will charge for you it, but you will more than likely be able to pay it back in increments that you can afford. Understandably, either way you’re at a loss, yet if you rent it the loss is something that comes in as a softer blow.

Renting a projector is something that everyone should consider for all of their projector needs, as it is the more economical decision. You basically do not want to be stuck with something that cost you a lot of money, especially if you’re not going to use it on a daily basis.

Enhancing The Security Of Your Network

These days it is possible to feel completely confident about hacker attacks as long as you have the most effective security in place. But what is the most effective security? How do hackers work? How can you feel completely confident?

Keep reading to find out..

To attack a network, a hacker will need to know as much as possible about it, so gathering all the information they can about the network, technical or otherwise is their first step. Any information can be useful, e.g. how many office branches there are or who their partners are. This kind of information can help them gain perspective on the potential defence systems that may be in place.

Technical information may contain IP addresses in use, services available, etc. More services running on servers means more entry points. More entry points make it easier to get access.

Now as an example if you found SERVER-A with only port 80 open and SERVER-B with ports 21, 25, 80, 110, 143, 443 open on target network, where you will start from? Your obvious choice would be SERVER-B as said more services means more entry points, if you can bypass the security of any entry point you get access, while for SERVER-A, you have only one entry point.

A method of protection that has proved very effective is setting up a decoy server with lots of open ports to distract the hackers from something important on the other servers. As soon as they start the attack on the fake server you can analyse their plans of attack. This method is called the honey pot.

A honey pot is a trap set to detect, deflect, or in some manner counteract attempts at unauthorized use of information systems. Generally it consists of a computer, data, or a network site that appears to be part of a network but which is actually isolated, protected, and monitored, and which seems to contain information or a resource that would be of value to attackers.

A honeypot is valuable as a surveillance and early-warning tool. It can carry risks to a network, and must be handled with care. If they are not properly walled off, an attacker can use them to break into a system. Honeypots can be classified based on their deployment and based on their level of involvement. Based on the deployment, can be classified as

Production Honey Pots Research Honey Pots

Production honeypots are easy to use, capture only limited information, and are used primarily by companies or corporations; Production honeypots are placed inside the production network with other production servers by organization to improve their overall state of security

Research Honey Pots Usually run by voluntary workers or institutions of IT education in order to collect more and more information about the tactics of modern hackers to develop better defence systems.

Any information can be useful, e.g. how many office branches there are or who their partners are. This kind of information can help them gain perspective on the potential defence systems that may be in place.

As far as technical information goes, IP addresses can be useful, how many servers they have running and the number of services available on each one etc.

The more services running on servers means more points of entry for the hackers. For example, if you saw that server A only had port 21 open, but server B had 7 different ports open, then server B is the clear choice for entry because each open port is an entry point and you get full access if you can bypass the security to one port entry point, so the one with more options would be the clear choice.

A method of protection that has proved very effective is setting up a decoy server with lots of open ports to distract the hackers from something important on the other servers. As soon as they start the attack on the fake server you can analyse their plans of attack. This method is called the honey pot.

A honey pot system is essentially, a trap set to lure hackers into a server that appears to be part of your main server system, but is in fact on its own, monitored and has been made to look like it contains valuable data but in fact contains nothing of any use to anyone.

However, honey pots can contain risks to your system as if their not set up properly and isolated completely, hacker can use them to gain access to your system. There are two main kinds of honey pot which you can tell the difference between by the situations they’re used in. The two types are:

Research Honey Pots or Production Honey Pots.

Production Honey Pots: These Honey Pots are used mainly by the bigger companies and corporations in order to increase their overall security. They are easy to use, and only capture a small amount of information which would be useless to a hacker.

Research Honey Pots: These are run by volunteers or an educational organisation to simply gather information about how hackers work, their motives and tactics in order to create better protection from them.
