Finding the right niche takes effort and paying attention to the details. When everyone in your peer group of marketers is going in one direction with full force, should you follow? Many marketers with the best niches are not going to share with you their keyword list, or their website domain name. Here are a few tips to how to completely dominate your niche and make money.

The Low-Hanging Fruit

Use google keyword selector tool and begin to search for keywords to use in your website or blog. This is a free tool offered through google adwords website. Most long tailed keywords are three or more words long. These are the words that will bring in very targeted visitors to your website. One great way to find long tailed keywords is to ask a question.

Want an easy niche to dominate? Go for the smaller and untargeted ones. Type in your main niche’s keywords and add words like “when” or “how” or “can” — chances are, people are asking questions that aren’t being answered yet. Go beat that niche.

Monthly Searches

Be sure that your keywords have enough people looking for them each month. Look for niches that have 14,000 searches or more each month. Do not invest a lot of time on keywords that are under 10,000 searches a month.

Discussion Groups

Find out what people in your chosen niche want. Join a few forums and become a lurker. Write down all of the questions that people are asking. You will discover many questions, that do not have satisfying answers to the members of the forum. Several of the questions may be reoccurring. Use the search function on the forum. You may find that every month a new different is having the same problem.

Traditional Print

Don’t forget to look for online “ezines”, journals, newsletters or even “real” newspapers and magazines. There will be a boat-load of content that you can turn into articles and posts — keep reading, and you’ll become an expert.

Many times you will find yahoo answers, or message board posts where people are looking for information related to your niche. Take note of how many unanswered questions you find. There may be people directing others to a book or single resource on that subject. That book may be listed on Amazon or other online sources of books. It’s easy to make money online if you’re selling the answers to questions people want to have answered.

There may be one tattered copy that is being sold for more than $50. Many times you will find that the book is not in stock, but highly valued. Do an internet search for the name of the book. This may lead you to different forums where people are searching for more information in this niche.

These days, people are turning to the search engines like Google like never before. This is why you should be doing SEO — before someone else does. The Internet is still the wild frontier, and won’t be this easy to get into forever. Make hay while the sun shines.

You may find that your best paying niches are not flashy, glamorous, or talked about in internet marketing discussion forums. Sometimes when you find a competing website in that niche, it looks boring. There is no flashy sales page, it simply is directing people to solve their problem. Use these tips to find a profitable niche for yourself.

You can make money online this way. It’s what I’ve done, and I’ve got college paid for because of it. You can do whatever you set your mind too — especially since you know to go right now and pick your niche.
