Do you ever get a feeling that the minute you master a marketing technique, the internet changes and you have to modify what you do accordingly? Well, that’s definitely the case with Search Engine Optimization (SEO). The methods of increasing your MLM Lead Generation page popularity are always evolving.

Since the dawn of the net though, there have been several methods that were and always will be at the heart of search engine optimization. Keep reading and you will soon learn about one of them, the keyword.

Keywords are the biggest and quite likely the most important aspect of search engine optimization. Whatever MLM home business you are in, it is imperative that you understand the concept of keywords and how it affects your MLM lead generation marketing plan.

A keyword is what people are putting into the search box of a search engine. It doesn’t always have to be a single word, but it can be.

For instance, /MLM/ is a keyword, but /MLM Opportunity/ is also a keyword. When the keyword has more than one word in it, it can also be called a keyword phrase or a keyphrase. One of most important things that you can do with your SEO is target specific keywords. You can do this by including them in your website content.

By targeting specifically chosen keywords, you will be raising the likelihood that visitors will find your website. When internet surfers search on Google for /MLM Opportunity/ and your website has targeted that specific keyphrase, your site will be more likely to appear in the search results.

I do need to caution you against an enormous mistake a lot of internet marketers make when it comes down to choosing keywords. What they do is pick the keywords based on their website content and not on how popular and profitable the keyword is. Let me show you what I mean.

If you have a website about work at home business opportunity, it is a bad idea to target the keyword /work at home/. Why? Because it is an incredibly competitive keyword in MLM Home Business industry. A quick search on Google reveals almost 307 million results for that keyword. Do you really think that you will be able to get to the first page of search results? Even the 10th page?

Now, let’s try to change our keyword a bit and see what results we come up with. I did a search for /successful work from home business opportunity/ and came up with 47M results. Not great, but much, much better. It will be a LOT easier to get to the front page with this keyword and get those MLM leads flowing to your website.

Would you like your website to be on the 214th page of search results for a keyword that is searched for 1000 times each day? Or would you rather be on the second page of search results for a keyword that is searched for 10 times each day?

Let’s move on to some practical advice on how to find great keywords to work with.

The simplest way and a good place to start is to go back to Google and use the search box to see how popular the keywords you came up with are. Again, the lower the number, the better. 300K is a good starting point.
