While browsing the bookshop at the airport I picked up a copy of Tony Hawk’s book – How Did I Get Here: The Ascent of an Unlikely CEO
It’s a short and simple book where Tony takes you behind the scenes of his business empire.
What really grabbed me about Tony’s story was how he was able to leverage his ever expanding personal fame as a professional skateboarder, into various businesses in all kinds of different markets. Watch my video below for more details –

Question: Michael, I came across your name as someone with a very good reputation. May I ask your opinion of affiliate marketing as a business for beginners at this late date, when there is so much competition from very accomplished marketers? And also, if this business is appropriate for retirees like me who must absolutely find a way to supplement their income, but cannot work full-time?
I saw on your site a reference to Goobert, is this a possible standalone model, or must one spend hours doing backlinking for search engines and other things, which I read about and terrify me? What effect does buying old websites and linking their content to your sales site, have on your search engine rankings?
Question: I’m thinking of buying aged domains. Ones with valuable links in the directories and other backlinks. I also want to be sure that the domains have existing content, with several pages that rank well.
My plan is to sculpt the links on the aged domain, to pass link juice to some new pages that that I’ll create on it. Then I’ll link those new pages to my existing sites, that I want to boost in the rankings. What do you think?
Answer: I gave this advice to someone buying used domain names… “An aged domain can be a little risky. It may have incoming links, but all the link juice could be reset at any time.”
