Sound Effects Library Creation

by SFXsource

Due to the increase in video editing and viewing, sound effects have become an in-demand product. As a result, many sound designers may find it worthwhile to build a sound effects library from their recordings in order to make extra money. The following tips give an overview of the steps involved in making a useful library to sell online.

1. Record a wide array of 48k sample rate ambiances and single hits using a digital mobile hand-held recorder.

2. Edit, normalize, filter, and eq these files in a digital audio workstation (DAW) to clean up the sounds and increase volume.

3. Create stereo 48k 24bit products if possible as distinct .wav files.

4. As you bounce each file, name them with consistent SKU numbers with three unique letters followed by 5 digits such as AOS00001 Dog Bark 1, AOS00002 Bird Chirp 1 and so on.

5. Create a master excel sheet of all your products that includes SKU number, file name, categories and sub-categories, time length, pricing, descriptions, and keywords.

6. Make different formats for all the files such as .mp3s based on 44.1k sample rate for web use and .aiffs for people who use Macs.

Shoot for creating a few thousand sound effects if you want to actually generate enough money to pay some sizable monthly bills. Find as many online outlets as possible through which to license your sounds. With a bit of determination, one can find a dozen or so online distributors willing to host and license your library.

You can make money online, especially women

Work at home moms across the country have discovered they can get paid taking surveys! This has got to be the easiest, most flexible job in the world – and you don’t have to have any special training. Just be willing to answer questions about your shopping habits, and you can make money every day!

If your household is like most, you as the mom are doing a majority of the shopping. This means that you have to make daily decisions about what products will serve you and your family the best – and which ones will fit your budget! This actually makes you kind of a shopping expert.

Big brand name companies spend millions of dollars every year finding out which products people purchase, and where, and why. They need information from moms in every city and state so they can plan ad campaigns and find out what the consumers need. These companies will give you surveys to take, and pay you CASH for completing them!

How do you get started? It’s easy! Just sign up with one or more survey sites on line, and you can start getting paid taking surveys within a week or even a few days. It’s easy, it’s free and it’s legit. No special tools or skills required! All you need is internet access and a new email address.

The short list of things you will need to prepare before you go looking for sites to register on include a new email address (to keep your survey emails organized) a username to login to sites with, and a random, easily memorized password for security purposes. Don’t use a password you use for your personal matters.

You should receive a confirmation email that will verify your registration. If you are signing up for multiple sites, you should keep a list – clicking on links in unfamiliar emails can crash your computer, so you will want to be sure it comes from a site you signed up with. Once you are confirmed with the survey site you will be eligible to receive surveys to take.

After you are registered, you will probably be asked to fill out some profiles. The survey site will use these to qualify you for surveys to take. When they find a survey you appear to qualify for, they will send you an email inviting you to login and take the survey!

It will take a little while to build a reputation as a serious survey taker, but eventually you should notice that you are receiving regular notifications and your earnings will start to climb. Keep it up, and you can make some serious money getting paid taking surveys!

The UK is going to reduce its carbon emissions by eighty percent by 2020, compared to 1990 levels – according to the government. In spite of this statement, UK people are questioning their government’s dedication to wind power.

An influential website, Wallstreetpit.com, said in a recent article that BP, a large energy company with headquarters in the UK, is closing down its Chinese, Turkish, Indian and British projects and focusing their attention on the United States. The same article implies that approximately thirty percent of the energy supply for the UK is supposed to come from windfarms. There were calls from opinion leaders in the UK asking the government why it has allowed BP to focus on the US when it (the government) says the future of British energy is green.

According to an article by the Guardian, Great Britain is one of the best locations in the world to be home to wind technology development. The popularity of Great Britain is owed mostly to the long coastline and good wind conditions that the country is famous for.

This same article names a new partnership between two major wind technology companies, Iberdola Renewables and Vattenfall, which will be building a new wind farm in the UK. This wind farm will cost 780m pounds to build and have an expected output of 300MW. Is it the pulling out of BP that allows for this new joint venture to be built? Why is wind technology being left up to private enterprise if the government is supposed to be fully behind it?

Even more complaints are being voiced about the sum of money that will be needed to build the wind farms that will generate all of the green energy the UK’s government is so enamoured with. If thirty percent of the nation’s energy is going to be produced by wind farms, quite a few will need to be built to shoulder that burden. The Carbon Trust, an independent research group, has guessed that, in order to keep the government’s promise the process will need to get considerably faster and-at the same time-sixteen billion pounds will need to be removed from the project’s original budget. Redgreenandblue.com points out that although the UK targeted 2020 as the date by which this wind energy would be available, only twenty five percent of the wind farms will have been built by then.

UK residents understand that the future of energy production lies with renewable energy and not the existing power grid. Renewable energy is more cost effective and is better for the environment than the current system. Still, with so many roadblocks in the way, each one of us should be wondering just how serious the UK government’s commitment to renewable energy is. If it is truly committed why is the project slowing down and losing money? What is getting in the way of the 2020 goal?
